Barrie Water Pollution Control Centre Expansion
Kenaidan was appointed to increase the current WPCC capacity of 57ml/day to 76ml/day. Work was carried out in 4 different areas of the plant: Sludge Processing, Primary Treatment, Secondary Treatment, and Tertiary Treatment.
16 process units were added, including one secondary clarifier, two flash and flocculation tanks, and one primary digester tank. The work also included the replacement and addition of mechanical and electrical processes within the plant, as well as extensive dewatering, excavation, and piling works; close to 2,000 piles were driven in a 5-month period. Kenaidan self-performed 28,000m2 of formwork and placed 10,800m3 of concrete.
